Scholarship Coverage

The University of Otago Scholarships will provide:

1. Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship for International Students:

  • NZ$10,000 contribution towards the tuition fee on an eligible program.

2. University of Otago International Master’s Research Scholarship:

  • NZ$17,172 stipend per annum plus a tuition fee waiver for 1 year capped at the domestic rate for Master’s study (excludes student services fee and insurance).

3. University of Otago Doctoral Scholarship:

  • Doctor of Philosophy – NZ$30,696 stipend per annum plus a domestic tuition fees waiver for 36 months (excludes student services fee and insurance).
  • Professional Doctorates (DClinDent, DMA, DBA, EDd) – NZ$30,696 stipend per annum plus a tuition fee waiver for up to 36 months capped at the domestic rate (excludes student services fee and insurance).

Eligibility Criteria for University of Otago Scholarships

To qualify for the University of Otago Scholarships, candidates must fulfill all of the following requirements below:

  • Required Language: English.
  • Eligible Countries: All world countries.

1. Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship for International Students:

  • International students who are not New Zealand citizens or permanent residents or resident visa holders of New Zealand or Australia*.
  • Have gained university admission through:
    • Completion of Year 12 and/or completion of – or in the process of completion of – Year 13 at a New Zealand school, or an equivalent foundation level course at a New Zealand tertiary institution.
    • Completion of an internationally recognized qualification in New Zealand or at an overseas high school, such as A Levels, International Baccalaureate, or ATAR; or.
    • Meeting other international entrance requirements as outlined on the Otago website.
  • Have not normally completed any previous study at a New Zealand university.

  • Costs for health insurance are funded, and scholars with a child receive a family allowance of EUR 276.
  • The scholarship does not have to be repaid.

DAAD Scholarship Coverage

DAAD Scholarship 2024 for Masters and PhD in Germany provides the recipient with the following benefits:

  • Depending on academic level, monthly payments of 934 euros for graduates or 1,200 euros for doctoral candidates.

How to Apply for the DAAD Scholarship 2024?

To apply for the DAAD Scholarship for a Master and PhD in Germany please follow the following step-by-step application procedure:

  1. Choose suitable courses of your interest. (You can apply for a maximum of three courses)
  2. Apply to universities offering those courses.
  3. You send your complete application(s) (with the above documents) directly to the universities.
  4. A selection committee suggests potential candidates for a DAAD scholarship.
  5. The suggested candidates will be contacted by DAAD to upload their complete application to the DAAD Portal. (The link to the DAAD Portal will be provided by DAAD through email)
  6. The selection process will be finalized, and the suggested candidates will be informed accordingly.

Important Note: Make sure that you have a copy of each document of your application ready, as those documents (as PDF files) have to be uploaded to the DAAD Portal in case you are suggested for a DAAD scholarship!

Required Documents for DAAD Scholarship 2024

  1. Signed DAAD application form with the current date.
  2. Personally signed CV (please use the sample europass form at http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/) with the current date.
  3. Personally signed Letter of Motivation (concerning current occupation and choice of postgraduate program(s), two pages maximum) with the current date.
  • IMPORTANT: When applying for more than one postgraduate course (maximum 3 courses), you have to submit one motivation letter explaining why you are applying for these specific courses and why you chose that priority.
  1. Letter of recommendation from your current employer; the letter must have letterhead, a signature, and an official stamp and must be of the current date (not in a sealed envelope).
  2. Certificate(s) of Employment from the employer(s) that proves a minimum of two years of relevant working experience (after the bachelor’s degree) at the time of application and if possible, a guarantee of re-employment from your current employer upon returning home.
  3. Proof of Language Skills:
  • English – IELTS or TOEFL (Note: The institutional TOEFL is not accepted)
  • German – Required for courses taught in German
  1. Copies of Academic Degrees (certified translation if necessary).
  2. Copies of Academic Transcripts, including grading scale (certified translation if necessary).
  3. Applicants from the People’s Republic of China are asked to submit an APS Certificate with their application documents.
