The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) is a public university located in Winneba, Central Region of Ghana. It was established in 1992 with the main goal of training teachers for the education system of Ghana. The university is charged with the responsibility of teacher education and producing professional educators to contribute to the development of Ghana.

BACHELORS REQUIREMENTS

1. WASSCE Holders

  • Must have at least, six (6) WASSCE Credit passes (A1-C6) comprising three (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies, as well as
  • Three (3) Electives in relevant subjects with the total aggregate of 36 or better.
  • Must also satisfy Special Programme requirement(s) for programme(s) chosen.

2. School Certificate/GCE Holders

  • Five (5) credits at GCE “O” Level, comprising English Language and Mathematics as well as
  • Two (2) “A” Level passes other than General Paper in relevant subjects.

3. Diploma Holders

  • Applicant must possess a College Diploma or Higher National Diploma (HND) or its equivalent from an accredited institution.

DIPLOMA REQUIREMENTS

1. WASSCE Holders

UEW North Campus

Applicant must have Credit passes (A1-D7) in Three (3) Core Subjects comprising English Language and Mathematics, and (A1-C6) in Three (3) Elective Subjects relevant to the programme of interest.

EXCEPT DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION WHERE AN APPLICANT MUST POSSESS AT LEAST A DIPLOMA OR HND IN A SPECIFIC AREA OF STUDY.

2. SSSCE/ ABCE/GBCE Holders

Applicants must have Credits passes (A-D) in Six (6) subjects, comprising Three (3) Core Subjects, (English Language, Mathematics and Science /Social Studies) and Three (3) Elective Subjects relevant to the programme of interest.

3. MATURE APPLICANTS

  • Must be at least, 25 years by October 22, 2023.
  • Should have a minimum of GCE/SSSCE/ WASSCE/ DBS or RSA certificate.
  • Must pass the General Aptitude Test (GAT) and Subject Area Test (SAT) to be organized by the University.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU):

  • In May 2021, UEW signed an MoU with the NGO Transforming Teaching, Education and Learning to enhance education. The project was funded by the MasterCard Foundation.

KNUST BSc Midwifery Entry Requirements and Cut Off Points for 2023/2024

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) offers a BSc Midwifery program, providing comprehensive training for individuals aspiring to become registered midwives in Ghana. Below are the entry requirements and cut-off points for the 2023/2024 academic year:

Duration of KNUST BSc Midwifery Course:

Entry Requirements (Regular):

  1. A’ LEVEL APPLICANTS:
  • Five (5) credits at O’ Level, including English Language, Mathematics, Science Subject, and three (3) A’ Level subjects in Physics or Mathematics, Chemistry or Biology.

KNUST BSc Midwifery Cut Off Points:

  • The cut-off point for KNUST BSc Midwifery is 11.
  • Applicants must have credits in three (3) core subjects and three (3) elective subjects, totaling 11 or better for admission.

  • Applicants must meet the specified cut-off points to be considered for admission.

Admission Assurance:

  • Only applicants meeting the admission requirements and cut-off points for BSc Midwifery will be offered admission.

Highest Level of Midwife:

  • The highest level of midwifery is a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) with advanced training in midwifery.

Subjects for Midwifery in Ghana:

  • Relevant subjects for midwifery in Ghana include obstetrics, gynecology, maternal and child health, and neonatal care.

Midwife Levels:

  • There are four levels of midwives: Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), Certified Midwife (CM), Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), and Licensed Midwife (LM). Each level has varying education and experience requirements.
