Top 4 Amazing Wild Beaches in Morocco

Morocco boasts a stunning coastline that stretches along the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, dotted with beautiful beaches ranging from bustling tourist hubs to secluded and wild stretches of sand. Here are four amazing wild beaches in Morocco that offer pristine natural beauty and a sense of adventure:

Dragon Island Beach in Dakhla:

Dragon Island Beach” is associated with the Dakhla lagoon in the far south of Morocco along the Atlantic coast of the Sahara Desert. Dakhla is indeed known for its stunning natural landscapes and has become a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts, particularly kite surfers.

The city of Dakhla has emerged as a favored destination for water sports enthusiasts, including kitesurfing, paddleboarding, kayaking, and surfing. Numerous activities attract tourists, primarily from foreign countries, who come to unwind in this city situated nearly 1600 kilometers away from Casablanca. During a press tour organized by the Moroccan National Tourist Office, Yabiladi had the opportunity to explore essential locations in Dakhla, with Dragon Island being a notable highlight. Let’s delve into the discovery.

At high tide, Dragon Island gracefully presides over the sea, surrounded by dozens of kitesurf sails in motion. The warm, vigorous wind brushes against the faces of the multitude of tourists seeking refuge from the monotony of their homelands. The ambiance is one of tranquility and rejuvenation, accompanied by the melodies of desert-inspired music harmonizing with the rhythmic movements of the waves and the joyous laughter of children frolicking in a miniature pool, all under the vigilant gaze of their parents.

The locals of Dakhla exude warmth and hospitality, eager to showcase the allure of their region. One notable advantage of this city is its authenticity, diverging from the tourist-centric atmosphere adopted by other cities in Morocco.

Porto Rico Beach in Dakhla:

Embarking on the sole coastal route leading south from Dakhla toward Mauritania, signs of civilization gradually fade away, evoking a sense of traversing a “no man’s land,” with seemingly abandoned villages. Suddenly, around a bend, a pristine stretch of white sand unveils itself – the secluded Porto Rico Beach. Even in the middle of August, there’s a serene absence of visitors. This untamed beach serves as a gathering spot for migratory birds, and its remote location makes it an ideal setting for Saharan bivouac camping.

Red Beach of Legzira in Sidi Ifni:

The initially unassuming Legzira beach in Sidi Ifni reveals its wild charm as you distance yourself from the tourist complex that now dominates the area, accessible by descending 200 steps. Once beyond the confines of the resort, a sense of solitude prevails against the backdrop of majestic cliffs plunging into the ocean. The tides have sculpted several arches into the rock, their ochre hues taking on sublime tones during the sunset. Embraced by surfers seeking to challenge its consistent rollers, the untamed Legzira beach is a haven for those eager to explore crevices and caves exposed during low tide.

White Beach of Guelmim:

Included in the roster of Morocco’s most beautiful wild beaches, the White Beach of Guelmim claims its place along the coastal road linking Agadir to Tantan, recognized as the longest and most untamed beach in the country. Aptly named Playa Blanca, it sprawls across an expansive stretch of white sand dunes nestled within a 250 km² ecological park, offering a captivating view of the Canary Islands. The region boasts extraordinary landscapes, blending the desert and sea, mountains, oases, Kasbahs, and quaint fishing villages. While our visit to Guelmim only afforded a distant view of the White Beach due to the limitations of our small vehicle on rough tracks, enthusiasts of 4×4 excursions revel in the expansive sand dunes, turning them into an exhilarating playground.
