“Reviving Tradition with a Modern Twist: NOMAD and Riad Azzar Medina, a Culinary Journey and Perfect Riad in Modern Morocco”

NOMAD is a restaurant specializing in “Modern Moroccan” cuisine, placing a strong emphasis on locally sourced, fresh seasonal ingredients. The menu features reinterpretations of traditional dishes and international cuisine, all infused with a distinctive Moroccan flair.

NOMAD Marrakech appears to be the trendy hotspot of the city, attracting the beautiful crowd seeking a retreat from the bustling souks and square. It’s an understandable choice, as NOMAD Marrakech stands out by providing something that few other establishments in the city offer: a refreshing rooftop space and a menu featuring modern interpretations of traditional classics.

This stylishly decorated restaurant is situated in the heart of the Medina. The ambiance is captivating, and with three floors, two of which are outdoors, you can enjoy views of the old city from various angles. As night falls, the illuminated lanterns and softly lit edges of the rooftop contribute to a romantic atmosphere beneath the open sky. Due to NOMAD’s immense popularity, making reservations is advisable, particularly during the peak season.

Indulging in an extensive three-course dinner, complete with four sodas and coffees, will cost you 588 Moroccan Dirham, equivalent to 61.12 US Dollars.

But NOMAD is more than just a restaurant—it’s a culinary journey that celebrates the spirit of exploration and discovery. Join us as we revive tradition with a modern twist, inviting you to savor the flavors of Morocco in a way you’ve never experienced before. From farm-to-table ingredients to innovative cooking techniques, NOMAD is a celebration of Moroccan cuisine at its finest. So come, indulge your senses and embark on a culinary adventure like no other at NOMAD, where tradition meets innovation in every bite.

Nomad is an enchanting restaurant situated in the heart of the city center amid the bustling Souks. The terraces offer a splendid view of the city, and the entire setting is incredibly Instagram-worthy. Fortunately, we were able to secure a table on one of their terraces upon arrival. While the restaurant inside was initially empty, it became bustling with patrons by the time we left. With two terraces available, we chose a spot on the middle one. Personally, I believe the view from the middle terrace surpasses that from the upper one.

Riad Azzar Medina Morocco

Upon crossing the substantial front door from a winding street in the Medina, you’ll step into a serene sanctuary enveloped in soothing muted green and white tones. The three-room, three-suite Riad Azzar revolves around a breathtaking plunge pool and a banana tree in the courtyard. Consider choosing the romantic Suite Zemmour for your stay, characterized by deep mauve and taupe furnishings, an art deco bathroom, and a picturesque view overlooking the courtyard.

Life within the Riad is centered inward, a design philosophy rooted in Islamic ideas of privacy. The term ‘Riad’ originates from the Arabic word for a garden, reflecting a space where trees and arcades come together to form a tranquil oasis adorned with lush plants and refreshed by fountains and pools.

Riad Azzar, welcoming guests since January 2004, has left a lasting impression from its inception. The house is adorned in soothing colors and comfortable furnishings, creating an ambiance of serenity. Upon entering the small entrance, guests are greeted by an elegant courtyard featuring a delightful plunge pool, a banana tree, and an array of plants and flowers. Riad Azzar provides an immediate sense of home, characterized by a welcoming atmosphere that extends to the three rooms, three suites, and various public areas, including cozy alcoves, a comfortable dining room, a salon with music and books, and a roof terrace with a lounge area and private sunbeds.

Every element within the Riad exudes a subtle sensuality and refined taste, creating a delightful retreat. Returning to the peace and tranquility of this finely appointed and comfortable Riad is a joy, offering an opportunity to savor the culinary delights crafted by the ever-smiling and excellent cook, Fatima.

The roof terrace at Riad Azzar is a favored spot for guests, whether for sunbathing, open-air dining, or relaxing in the shady lounge area, making it an ideal place to spend leisurely days. Typically, guests commence their day with a delightful Moroccan breakfast served on the roof terrace. With a comprehensive drinks and kitchen service, meals can be enjoyed on the terrace throughout the year, ensuring that there’s always someone available to prepare a glass of refreshing mint tea or bring a cooling beverage.
