MEXT Scholarship Coverage

MEXT Scholarship is a Fully Funded Scholarship for International Students to Study in Japan For Free. This scholarship will provide the recipient with the following benefits:

  • Fees for the Entrance Examination
  • Tuition Fee at Universities will be paid by MEXT.
  • Traveling Expenses:
  • Transportation to Japan: MEXT will cover your Round Airfare Travel Expenses from your Country to Japan. The Airline ticket will be an Economy-class ticket for the flight.

Eligibility Criteria for MEXT Scholarship 2024

To qualify for MEXT Scholarship, the candidate must fulfill all of the following requirements:

  • Required Language: English
  • Eligible Countries: All world countries
  • Applicants must have the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan.
  • An applicant who has Japanese nationality at the time of application is not eligible.
  • For Undergraduate Students:
  • You must be at least 17 and under 25 years of age and have completed 12 years of school education or have completed courses in a school comparable to a high school (includes prospective graduates)
  • For Masters / PhD Students:
  • You must be under 35 years of age and a college graduate (includes prospective graduates). Or you must have completed 16 years / 18 years of education.
  • For Teacher training students:
  • You must be under 35 years of age and a graduate of a college or teacher training college. You must have at least five years of active experience as a teacher in a primary, secondary or teacher training college in your country.
  • For Japanese Study Students:
  • Applicants must be from 18 to 30 years old. Applicants must be enrolled as undergraduate students in faculties or schools which major in Japanese language or Japanese culture in a university outside Japan at the time when they come to Japan and must be enrolled in the home institution at the time when they return to their home countries.

How to Apply for MEXT Scholarship 2024?

Please follow the following application instructions to apply for MEXT Scholarship:

  1. Find the Japanese Embassy or Consulate of your country from here.
  2. Visit the website of the Japanese Embassy of your country. Under the Education / Scholarship tab, you will find the MEXT scholarship.
  3. Download the MEXT scholarship application form and fill it.
  4. Submit the required documents (list given below) to the Japanese Embassy of your country.

  6. After that interviews of the candidates will be conducted.
  7. The successful candidates will be informed through email or embassy website.

Scholarship Coverage

The University of Twente Scholarship provides the recipient with:

  • € 3,000 – € 22,000 for one year.
  • In the case of a two-year study program, students can receive an additional UTS of an amount equal to that in the first year to cover the expenses of the second year. However, the scholarship will only be continued during the second year when students meet the process requirements for the UTS.
  • You must have obtained:
    • An average grade of 7 (out of 10) at the end of the third quartile of the first year
    • At least 50% of European Credits at the end of the third quartile of the first year

Eligibility Criteria for the University of Twente Scholarship

To qualify for the University of Twente Scholarship (UTS), you must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Required Language: You comply with the general English language test requirement Academic IELTS 6.5 (or TOEFL iBT of 90) and an additional 6.0 (TOEFL iBT 20) on the sub-score of speaking skills.
  • Eligible Countries: All World Countries
  • Application for a UT scholarship is a procedure separate from the application for course entry at the University of Twente. Regardless of funding, you will need to gain an admission letter first.
  • You have been (provisionally) admitted to one of the qualifying UT Master programs starting in the next academic year (September). Please note: After completion of your application, it may take up to 8 weeks before you receive the results.
  • You must have a student number.
  • You have not graduated from a UT (under)graduate program;
  • You comply with the conditions for obtaining an entry visa in the Netherlands (if applicable);
  • You are not eligible for a Dutch study loan;
  • The University Twente Scholarship is a scholarship for excellent students. Typically this means that you belong to the best 5 to 10 percent of your class

Scholarship Coverage

Utrecht Excellence Scholarship provides the recipient with:

  • The tuition fee, or
  • The tuition fee plus the income required for one year is linked to a residence permit for study as determined by the IND (Immigration and Naturalisation Service).
  • The scholarship can be renewed for the second year of a two-year master’s program.

Eligibility Criteria for the Utrecht Excellence Scholarship

To qualify for the Utrecht Excellence Scholarship, the candidate must fulfill all of the following requirements below:

  • Required Language: English
  • Eligible Countries: All World countries except European countries.
  • Belong to the top 10% of your graduating class.
  • Not holding a European Union passport and not being eligible for support under the Dutch system of study grants and loans.
  • Have completed your secondary school and/or bachelor degree outside the Netherlands.
  • Have applied for an international master’s program with a start date of 1 September 2024.
  • Be able to comply with the conditions to obtain a Dutch visa/residence permit.
  • Failure to meet one or more of these criteria automatically means the student is not eligible for this scholarship.

Selection criteria: Eligible candidates are selected for a scholarship based on the following criteria:

  • Academic excellence and promise in the proposed field of study;
  • The academic quality and results of preceding qualifications, as evidenced by proof of belonging to the top 10% of the class, grades, test scores, a writing sample, and letters of recommendation;
  • The quality and relevance of the motivation letter for the Master’s program (academic content, intercultural and communication skills, personal motivation);
  • The quality of the application for the Master’s program itself (completeness, accuracy, consistency).

How to Apply for the Utrecht Excellence Scholarship?

Please follow the following instructions to apply for this scholarship:

  1. Apply first for a Master’s program; if you do not do this first, your scholarship application will simply be deleted.
  2. Follow the next steps to submit a complete application for the chosen Master program:
  • Check the entry requirements for this Master’s program.
  • Apply on time, preferably well before the deadline; see ‘When to apply’ according to the chosen masters program.
  • Download the instructions for applying for the master program.
  • Go to the online portal and complete the online application.
  • You will receive an email with login details for the OSIRIS Online Application, where you can upload the required documents. In OSIRIS Online Application you can also check the status of your application.
  • Pay the application fee.
  1. After applying to the Master’s program, you will have the option to apply for a Utrecht Excellence Scholarship from 1 November.
  • Please note that if the masters program deadline is after the scholarship deadline, you will have to submit your masters program application before the scholarship deadline to be considered for the scholarship.
  1. After applying to a Master’s program, you can go to Osiris Online Application.
  • Log in with your Osiris username and password.
  • Click on the link ‘New application’.
  • Answer the Utrecht Excellence scholarship questions and upload the requested document(s).
  1. You will need to upload the following document:
  • Proof of belonging to the top 10% of your graduating class (an official document issued by your university that proves you are among the top 10% of your graduating class).

To be eligible for Imperial College London President’s PhD Scholarship, you must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Required Languages: English
  • Eligible Countries: All World Countries
  • Candidates must be in receipt of, or due to receive, a first-class or equivalent in an undergraduate or integrated Masters degree; or if this has not been achieved.
  • Candidates must be in receipt of (or where this has yet to be received be able to provide evidence of high performance that will lead to) a distinction in a standalone Master’s qualification.
  • Candidates with only a single undergraduate degree or integrated Master’s must still be in receipt of, or due to receive, a first-class or equivalent.
  • Candidates must have made contact with a supervisor in an academic department at Imperial College London who has agreed to supervise their research project.

How to Apply for Imperial College London President’s PhD Scholarship?

Please follow the following application instructions to win this scholarship:

  1. There is no specific scholarship application form. You should submit your application for admission to study at Imperial through our online admissions system. Your department will put you forward for the scholarship based on academic merit and potential.
  2. Upload the following documents:
  • A 2-page personal statement which includes:
    • The first page should be a personal statement (motivations for applying to Imperial and the scholarship, and any other supporting information not included elsewhere on the form that you feel will enhance your application).
    • The second page should be your research proposal. You may submit updated versions of this statement if required following application submission if your department shortlists you for the scholarship. You are encouraged to write in the first person.
  • When prompted for the names of two academic referees, these should be people who can provide an academic reference in support of your application (e.g. your tutor or your thesis supervisor). You should not include your proposed PhD supervisor. You are encouraged to share this guidance with your two referees, noting, in particular, the recommendation to use ‘they/them’ language (rather than gender pronouns).
