Dr. Kwame Addo-Kufuor, the former Minister of Defence and MP for Manhyia, was born on July 14, 1940, in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He received his secondary education at Achimota School and pursued a medical degree at the University College Hospital Medical School in London. In 1970, he earned a degree in medicine from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.

Dr. Addo-Kufuor completed his postgraduate studies at the Middlesex Medical School Hospital in London in 1975, gaining valuable experience at various hospitals in the United Kingdom, including West Suffolk General Hospital in Edmonds, St Charles Hospital in London, Old Church Hospital in Essex, and St. Helhers Hospital in London.

Throughout his career, he has held significant positions in both the medical and political fields. Some of his notable roles include serving as the past Honorary Secretary of the Medical Students Association of Jesus College, Cambridge, past Chairman of the Jesus College United Nations Students Association, and past National President of the Ghana Medical Association.

Dr. Addo-Kufuor has been actively involved in political activities, holding positions such as Member of the National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman of the Health Committee of NPP, Member of the Policy Advisory Committee of NPP, and Inspector of Examinations for Final Bachelor of Medicine Examinations at the University of Ghana Medical School.

In Parliament, he has been a Member of the House Committee, the Health Committee, and the Committee on Selection. Additionally, he serves as the Medical Director of Kufuor Clinic in Kumasi and a part-time lecturer in the Department of Medicine at the School of Medical Sciences, K.N.U.S.T.

Dr. Kwame Addo-Kufuor has contributed to various publications, including “Safe Motherhood in the Upper West Region of Ghana” and “Propranolol, Diazepam and Their Combination in the Management of Chronic Anxiety in the Ghanaian Patient,” published in the Ghana Medical Journal.
