Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen or hold permanent residence status.

  • Must qualify to take a trade test (having a trade test certificate is advantageous).
  • Location: Gauteng (Johannesburg City, Ekurhuleni City, Mogale City, and Ruimsig), Mpumalanga (Gert Sibanda Municipality), Kwa-Zulu Natal (Ethekwini District), and Eastern Cape (Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan).
  • Industry: Plumbing & Electrical.
  • Intentions: Desire to start their own business.

Allan Gray Centre for Africa Entrepreneurship (AGCAE) Ph.D. and Masters Scholarships

Scholarship Description:
The Allan Gray Centre for Africa Entrepreneurship (AGCAE) at Stellenbosch University offers fully-funded doctoral and master’s research programs. The AGCAE aims to enhance data-driven and dialogue-based advancement of entrepreneurial ecosystems in Africa. The scholarships are open to South African citizens and African foreign nationals, with preference given to previously disadvantaged South Africans and African foreign nationals.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • AGCAE Doctoral Scholarships: Full-time doctoral scholarships valued at R250,000 per year for three years.

South African citizens and African foreign nationals. Preference given to previously disadvantaged South African and African foreign national citizens.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must meet the minimum criteria for admission to a Ph.D. or master’s program at Stellenbosch University. Specific academic criteria include achieving a minimum mark of 70% in their relevant programs. Only applications aligned with AGCAE’s 2023 research themes will be considered.
