Requirements for PTDF PhD Scholarship:
- Completion of the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC).
- Proficiency in computer skills.
- Possession of 5 O/level credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
- Minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2) in the first degree and a good post-graduate degree.
- Submission of a research proposal (not more than five pages) relevant to the oil and gas industry. The proposal should include the topic, introduction, objective, methodology, and mode of data collection.
- Lecturers must provide a letter from their Vice Chancellors confirming no receipt of any other scholarships.
- Applicants must have a National Identity Number (NIN) and verify it (NIMC verification charges apply) before applying for the scholarship.
Selection Process:
- PTDF scholarships are highly competitive, and only outstanding candidates are selected.
- Top applicants for each category from each state will be invited for an interview. A selection committee will assess applications based on:
- Academic merit demonstrated by the quality of degrees, full academic transcripts, and other professional qualifications.
- Relevant publications for PhD applicants.
- Membership in professional bodies.
- Viability and relevance of the study/research plan.
- Relevance of previous studies to the oil and gas industry and the proposed course/research.

- NYSC discharge certificate.
- WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO results with PINs on the application forms for O’level results viewing.
- Recent Passport Photograph.
- Local Government Identification Letter.
- Master’s Degree Certificate (PhD Applicants only).
- Evidence of membership in professional associations.

- The scholarship is for the 2024/2025 academic session.

- Scholarships awarded only for studies relevant to PTDF’s mandate; disqualification for applying to non-relevant programs.
- Proposed course of study must align with previous studies.
- Multiple applications lead to disqualification.
- Candidates previously sponsored for a scholarship category (MSc/PhD) by the Fund are ineligible for another application in the same category.
- Successful candidates will attend interviews with transcripts. All applicants should prepare transcripts in anticipation.

NAI African Scholarship 2024: Guidelines, Requirements, Deadlines

Benefits of NAI African Scholarship Programme:

Requirements for NAI African Scholarship Programme:
- Directed at early career researchers based in Africa engaged in Africa-oriented research.
- Research topic should be within the disciplines of Social Sciences and Humanities, with a focus on contemporary Africa.
- Research should be relevant to the core principles of the UN Agenda 2030, as indicated in the five impact areas of the Institute.
- Open to two main categories of early career researchers:
- Staff full-time employed by an African-based university or research center who are enrolled in a doctoral program in the African region and do not have access to an international scholarship.
- Postdoctoral researchers (within 5 years or less of PhD completion).
- Institute aims for a fair distribution of scholarship positions in terms of gender and geographic focus.
Selection Process:
- Maximum duration of stay is 90 days, minimum is 60 days.
- Most academic institutions in the Nordic countries, including the Nordic Africa Institute, are closed or at least running at a reduced capacity during the periods 15 June–15 August and 15 December–15 January.
- Applicants cannot choose these periods for their visit.

- Up-to-date CV, including list of publications (if available online, include links)
- Outline of research project (5 pages)
- Well-elaborated research proposal
- Work plan (1 page): Specific for the time spent at the Institute, including research objectives and expected results
- Reference: A signed letter of support from the applicant’s Head of Department or other senior scholar in the same field, confirming current workplace/affiliation and field of research
